Machine Learning Software

What is Machine Learning Software?

Machine Learning Software is a subcomponent of data science software that uses insights from data and algorithms to build logical, structured models.

Machine learning models can be applied to help iterate process automation in other applications.

Machine learning software is used by users and organizations looking to use algorithms to make data-driven decisions, predictions, or forecasts to drive better business outcomes.

Data is used to create algorithms and must be sourced. It is either designed manually, or the machine “learns” by ingesting it and turning out algorithms of patterns and insights derived from it.

Algorithms can be encoded with applications to create automated AI functionality. The can adapt and learn over time.

Types of machine learning algorithms

Machine learning is a broad field. Algorithms can be sourced in a variety of ways to across many different types of functions and tasks.

Machine learning algorithms can include various types and categories:

  • Anomaly detection
  • Artificial neural network
  • Bayesian networks
  • Clustering
  • Decision tree learnings
  • Genetic algorithms
  • Learning classifier systems
  • Reinforcement learning
  • Rule learning
  • Structured prediction
  • Supervised learning
  • Support vector machines
  • Unsupervised learning

Supervised learning is the process of training a machine to determine appropriate inferences by feeding it data that can determine a consistent, repeatable, and causal output. Supervised learning requires human input.

Unsupervised learnings reaches an output independent of human training and feature into deep learning algorithms.

Reinforcement learning is the final component of machine learning. These algorithms are involved in reacting to and taking action within an environment or specific situation to maximize notional reward.

Many everyday software tools and technology and marketing platforms use machine learning algorithms to automate tasks in some way. For example, Facebook advertising involves “renting out” the platform’s algorithm to find leads and customers whose values are in excess of the amount spent in fees.

Machine learnings software may also come in a “as a service” type package (MLaaS).

Machine learning software features

For inclusion as a machine learning solution, the product should:

  • Enable intelligent learning capabilities for applications
  • Provide a product based around one or more algorithms that learns on the basis of data or relevant inputs
  • Offers an output that solves a problem, issue, or need on the basis of learned data
  • Consume data or inputs relevant to the matter being produced or provided to end customers
